About Us
Welcome to phase one of dunedinmusic.com This initial launch is just the beginning of some very exciting stuff we are going to bring you in the near future.

Dunedin has a unique, diverse and rich musical heritage:
· Charles Begg arriving in Dunedin to build pianos mid 1800s.
· Joe Browns innovative Town Hall dances in the 1930s.
· The Dunedin sound artists of the 1980s such as Martin Phillipps, David Kilgour, and Graeme Downes.
· Jonathon Lemalu's worldwide success in the field of opera.
· The current buoyant music scene enjoyed right now.

dunedinmusic.com was setup in June 2003 with a view to providing comprehensive resources for the Dunedin music community and to promote and report on local music of all genres.

In July 2004 we began to design a structure and build processes that would ensure ongoing delivery of the values outlined below.

· Foster Dunedin music community.
· To be enterprising and entrepreneurial and encourage those values.
· Provide direction.
· Inclusive environment for all Dunedin musicians.
· To be supportive.
· To be leaders in the global music community

The site will include articles and resources for musicians as well as providing information such as news, gig guides, reviews and interviews for those with an interest in Dunedin music.

The dunedinmusic.com team recognise the need for a "hub" for Dunedin music as the scene is as fragmented as it is buoyant, but with the support of Dunedin's music community, dunedinmusic.com will strive to push Dunedin music onto the global stage.

We are very aware we have only begun to scratch the surface of the unique phenomenon that is Dunedin music and we welcome any and all contributions to the website.

This site is FOR and ABOUT Dunedin musical artists: past, present, and future.

Help us make this a more interesting place to visit by sharing your knowledge and experiences.

And above all, ENJOY!
The team at dm.c
