How was the launch?

The launch went really well.
Better than we'd hoped! Lots of people came, and we felt that we played really well.

Tell us all about your tour.

We're touring the south island first, with Dunedin band Onanon who we really like. Starting in Christchurch and doing a round trip that involves two Dunedin gigs - one at Refuel on the 5th Sep, and one at the Musos Club on the 8th. Then during October we will be touring the north island over a period of 3 weeks.

Any plans to take things overeas?

We'd certainly like to! We have to get things sorted here first... see how our album does. See what opportunities arise. But yes, definitely in the long run.

What are your fondest memories of Dunedin?

Well I grew up in Dunedin, so most of my fond memories lie there. We definitely have shared memories of the Musos Club, and walking through the snow during winter, and wearing a trillion layers of clothes inside our dingy student flats! Many good memories of Dunedin. Half of the songs were written there. And it is half of our name (George - as in George St).

What advice would you give to up-and-coming young musicians thinking about moving to the big smoke?

Don't expect anything to happen quickly. You have to earn respect from the local crowd, by gigging a lot. I guess it just takes time to make a name for yourself (we haven't yet!). And it takes about a year to get used to the place, and actually like it.

George and Queen play at [ReFuel] on Wednesday 5th September With [Onanon] and [Inside My Speechbubble] and at [The Dunedin Musicians Club] on Saturday 8th September with [Onanon] and [The Alphastate].
