Press Release:
On Wednesday 7th of May Dunedin heavy rock group Made In China release their Heavy Low E.P. at Re:Fuel, Dunedin.
The group is comprised of vocalist Sam McKean, guitarist and vocalist Morgan Bickley, guitarist Dan Cox, bassist Malcolm McMartin and drummer Mike Holland. All of the band members are senior music students / graduates of the University of Otago, and their E.P. follows a year of continuous shows, throughout which the band have built a solid reputation as performers and songwriters.
The band’s sound ranges from heavy rock through to grunge and metal, and the band feels that the songs chosen for the E.P. represent both the heaviness and complexity of their songwriting approach.
The Heavy Low E.P. was entirely produced by the band. Recording, mixing and mastering all took place locally – tracking being made possible through three of the band members studying studio performance at Otago Uni, thus gaining access to the University’s studio facilities.
The release show features support from two other formidable Dunedin bands – Left or Right and The Biff Merchants, and starts at 9.30pm on Wednesday the 7th of May at Re:Fuel Dunedin.
Made in China are currently contemplating a release tour for the middle of the year, and plan to undertake another major recording project towards the end of 2008.
