PRESS RELEASE
ONEFEST SERIES PART TWO
THE SAMI SISTERS
w/ Tono & the Finance Company in support.
Saturday the 24th of May, 9pm @ REFUEL/DUNEDIN.
FREE with your 2008 Onecard.

Radio One – it’s like a big happy family round here. In the true spirit of whanau it is our great privilege & honor to present for the first time to Dunedin Audiences the amazing SAMI SISTERS

The Sami sisters are Anji, Madeleine and Priya Sami. They’re three singing, guitar playing, coffee coloured songstresses from Auckland. Anji, the middle (some would say moody) sister is a singer songwriter proper. Dunedin fans will be familiar with the El Dorado EP which she released in 2006 while she resided here. The title track went on to win her a prestigious bNET award. She has since gone on to wow audiences NZ & Australia over, touring with the Likes Of David Kilgour & the Heavy Eights and Anika Moa. Madeleine is the eldest and an award-winning actress. She’s familiar face to NZ through her appearances in Shortland Street, The Insiders Guide to Happiness & various theatre productions. As luck, or genes would have it, she also is an outstanding musician. The youngest sibling, Priya, has been a regular performer in Auckland since her early teens. Her ultra catchy pop original Mrs Julian Casablancas was an unexpected radio hit in New Zealand. The Sami Sisters recently supported Rufus Wainwright on his NZ jaunt, winning the crowd over with there witty sisterly banter, carefully crafted melodies and those magically close sibling harmonies. This is Dunedin’s chance to experience them live & united on the stage.

This truly classy affair will be topped up by local singer songwriting phenomenon TONO & his Finance Company. Tono’s debut E.P “Love & Economics” has just dropped on She’ll Be Right Records. The track Daffodils & A Cashbook can be heard currently tearing through Radio One’s Top 11. Definitely a rising star on the Dunedin musical landscape.

Once again this event is ABSOLUTELY FREE with your 2008 ONECARD! Or just $15 on the door on the night.
