BILLED as one of Germany’s finest ensembles, the Cologne New Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra is to perform at St Paul’s Cathedral tomorrow at 8pm.
The orchestra, which was founded in 1972, will perform Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, J.S. Bach’s Concerto in D Minor for Two Violins and Orchestra, Tchaikovsky’s Nocturne for Violoncello and Strings (1884), Mozart’s Concerto in G Major for Flute and Orchestra and Pachelbel’s Canon for Three Violins and Basso Continuo.
Soloists featured are Sergei Didorenko and Pawel Zuzanski (both violin) and Lydia Sharrad (flute).
In the past 34 years, the Cologne New Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra has given more than 10,000 concerts worldwide.
Its membership is composed mainly of graduates from Germany’s most important conservatories who, upon finishing their studies, wish to play chamber music and symphonic repertoire at a high level before furthering their careers as soloists or as members of professional orchestras.
Tickets are available from the Regent Theatre box office and at St Paul’s Cathedral one hour before the concert.
