Getting t-shirts printed

Does anyone have any advice on the good joints to go to/deal with?

Looking to get some 1 colour shirts done and was wondering if anyone knows where to go (or not to go).

It would probably be cheapest to talk to someone that knows screenprinting. Never been to a t-shirt place myself but i've heard they're pretty expensive.

Yeh I had that idea in the back of my mind.

I imagine the set up fee would be a lot but yeh... I might have a date with the phonebook tomorrow to see what's up.

Paying for screen printing is very expensive...there was a shop in town near The Bog..not sure where they moved to..it was $40 for the cheapest printing option....they wouldn't let you use your own teeshirt!! However, these prints would survive many machine wash cycles and probably outlive the shirt!! The cheapest option is to buy the blank iron-on sheets...not sure where to buy these anymore{??} Then copy on your own images....the print/adhesive doesnt last as long but initially the images are very effective!! Also, this type of copying works best with lighter coloured tees{black doesnt work too well}...buy yoursely a bundle from Hallensteins...good quality/good price!!

I believe that place was cheaper for bulk deals. Not into transfers because they look shoddy. Keen to spend a little extra for something quality.

I looked into this a few years ago for a run of 40 band t-shirts.
Cargill Enterprises, 199 Hillside Road, were the cheapest by far.
We ordered with them, and were very pleased with the result. Even doing a re-run a year later.
We will order with them again soon probably.
Good to deal with.

If you want to go down the 'iron on' route, you can get sheets where you print what you want on them, (using a normal printer) then iron them on to the shirt. However, it depends on what colour the shirt is, for example getting sheets for white tshirts is cheaper than colour ones. You can get them at stationery shops, like Warehouse Stationery or Paper Plus.

Have you ever thought of getting a stencil made, then using spray paint? Honeybone are probably gonna do this, and if you do it at gigs, it makes it even more 'bootleggy'. I believe The Mint Chicks did it once. And its real cheap!

Yeah I'll second that, was really happy with the Incarnate
t shirt printings that we got done there.

Just be mindful when you design your t shirt, how many colours you want to use and also if you want to get anything printed on the back of the t shirt as well. The more colours, places you print (back or sleeves etc), the more it will cost per t shirt.
If you buy in bulk it works out cheaper too.

Try getting hold of someone that studies printmaking or textiles at the art school.

They have kits where you can do the t-shirts yourself --this is a fun project if you only need 20 shirts or so....
