No, I mean he's a sound engineer. And his father is a sound archivist for National Radio. Good for you though, takes a lot of spirit to do what you're doing here.

Well I do like Nat Radio; it’s a bit bland in places (Wayne Mowat Must Die! & Peter Fry should be strapped down & made ta hear t’other Deep Purple) but still vastly improved on what use ta be & is generally pretty solid. It’s news & current affairs beats the crap outa TV's pitiful efforts -Music 101 & Nick Bollinger do ok at keeping things current-ish, & yeah the stuff from the archives I’ve heard is interesting. I’m glad that’s it’s still being looked after. Hopefully ex gNat employee Richard Griffin won’t screw things up too much...

I think you guys are overreacting. An opinion is just that - an opinion. No need to treat it like some argument that needs to be disproven once and for all. Every band sucks, unless they don't suck.

I was doing sound when Drab Doo Riffs played at Chicks and I thought they played a rather decent set. Nice guys/gals too.
But who knows, they may very well have been rubbish when Chris saw them.
Is that batter?... Its batter!

Nah, it doesn't: Yr just being a wanker... yet again.

As most’ll be aware, this thread was resurrected by FStewart’s post. With zero disrespect to him/her, posting on old threads is something that sometimes happens with newbies (to any site). ‘Tis a pity that within a coupla days FStewart is given a typical example of why dm.c has earned a reputation for adolescent trolling. :banghead:

As th’ expression goes, opinions are like a**holes; everyone’s got one. Of course some opinions may as well come from the aforementioned orifice. Given his track rekkid of posting obnoxious sh1te just for the sake of it, I reckon teChris’s deserves to be flushed with success.

teHole has repeatedly demonstrated that when he’s got nothing intelligent or useful ta say he’ll happily just be a wanker in attempts to needle those people he’s taken an neurotic dislike to. I'm sure that once again he's impressed himself.

Still, at least I know he won’t steal my avatar to use on his circle-jerking gameboy site.

You give yourself far too much credit - I even put YMMV at the bottom denoting that it was my opinion! Hell, at least I'm not hiding behind a pseudonym - hell if you really want to judge me, you're two clicks away from my last.fm page.....

You remind me of that vogels ad from way back "That was years ago, Michael, let it go!". You think I stole your avatar for my GP account, well actually no, I didn't. Sorry. You're just not that inspiring. I found that image probably the same way you did. I plugged "simpsons band" into images.google.com and picked that. It wasn't what I was looking for, but it worked. I've been meaning to change my avatar on gp for a while, but I'm too lazy to resize animated gif's in photoshop.

Anyway, I think I even addressed why I thought they sucked tbh. "New age fun, with a vintage feel" is a reference to the dickhead viral video from last year. I live in Auckland now and, though I respect Karl Steven, they sound like every other band up here who heard WAVVES and Best Coast and other 50's-but-punkier revivalists and decided they'd have a crack - that is variations on a boring theme. Nothing to see here, move along.

Glad I still mean that much to you though.

P.S Sam, dad's actually a recording engineer @ RNZ, but I have no intention of addressing anything else about him or his career ever again on this or any other forum. Thanks for the kind words though! :D
