"Rock Against Whaling III" Lineup Announcement!!

Postby tommygunner on Fri Jun 11, 2010 10:06 am

"Rock Against Whaling III" will be held at The Dunedin Musicians Club on Saturday July 31st...doors 7.30pm...first band 7.45pm. The lineup is as follows......The Julian Temple Band.....TFF {check the 5star Real Groove mag review!!}......Mr. Biscuits{OUSA BOTBs Winners!!}........Shakes and the Swell Guys{True Dunedin Pedigree}.....Honeybone......Kuntz....The Tommy Gunners {who will stand down should MMs "Brains" make the journey South!!} and Ambulant. We have gone for a variety of sounds and where else could you see JTB and TFF on the same billing?? We would like to apologise to the bands who made them selves available, we would like to have had all 15 but time is constraining!! But...."Rock Against Whaling IIII" will be happening in the springtime. We would also like to thank the bands who we approached but were unavailable, but still managed messages of moral support. Also appearing will be local comedian Richard West, who doubles as compare. So, plenty of time to ring this date on your calendar, tell your friends there's something of everything reggae, punk, free jazz, surf, psych, garage......et al. Come along and support the cause!!! July 31st 2010. :D
...and let there be tremolo!!!

Feastock!

Nonetheless, nice work, good to see people getting out there and putting shows together. Best o' luck - I'd find it utterly hilarious if Brains turned up and played - I thought those guys were far too pretentious for environmental concerns / Dunedin / technique / songwriting... oh, wait, off topic...
This recording needs more beer.

for one tantalising moment I read this to say,
where else could you see JBT and TFF on the same billing
where JTB = Jae Bedford Trio. Not Jae bagging, but that's supergroup jam session that I really would be scrounging some money from my mates to get down to see.

hmmmmm...yes!!!! I stand corrected.....yeah, these bands played together at Feastock...and I also muddled some letters JTB....not one of Jaes ensembles.......the Jae Bedford Band/Trio showed no interest in RAWIII....anyway, I doubt we could have fulfilled their rider requests... :D

good luck with the show bru. i don't always agree with the sea shepherd's methods, although extremism is often the only way to get a point across, it does make it v. v. easy for yr opponents to paint you as psychos/terrorists/pretentious. that being said, i never agree with whaling, and it's admirable that yr making a stand. good stuff

Nice one DickFace, and well done Tommy Gunner for arranging such a good range of bands.

Rock against whaling Dunedin! Great news that Pete Bethune is free from the clutches of the Imperial Japanese Army of whale killers. Nothing against Japan as a country, but there are elements of Japanese society that need a harpoon up their own arse. have you seen the movie 'The Cove'?

Wasn't it was the last thing Moko the dolphin watched before his suicide?

(I know, I've got to work harder and come up with a joke that's actually funny)

There is a bit of irony about 'The Cove' - while many of the butchered dolphins are left to rot, people who actually eat the meat are slowly poisoning themselves (and their kids) due to the mercury levels.

Of course, the whaling spokesman Glenn Dickhead might claim that any toxins are from 'eco-terroists' somehow spiking the cetacean sushi to poison innocent Japanese.

The word within Sea Shepherd, from Paul Watson's personal FB page, is that there is a replacement for the Ady Gil, just awaiting registration etc. The struggle will continue, so support RAW 3, and help stop the slaughter of whales in a whale sanctuary near you!
