Departed for Thailand 29 July 2012 to get some footage for music videos to support upcoming EP release titled "Beyond the Valley of the Ugly Boys".
Having started out as lounge room producers as a result of winter boredom, MANTHYNG self-funded and released their first, self-titled, album. A change of scenery from the Bay of Islands to Dunedin, and the addition of management and record label have seen MANTHYNG polish their craft ready to release a second album on the world. The album Love Child featuring the Radio 1 hit The Shaman was released on 28 October 2011. MANTHYNG is a fun and slightly crazy duo made of singer Stanley Manthyng and DJ Stevolicious. In an equally talented duo Stevo is a self-confessed computer whizz with a keen ear for contemporary pop music while Stanley brings his skills as a talented songwriter. Stanley has years of industry experience having been a finalist in 1990 for NZ's prestigious Silver Scroll Song writing Award and he has written four NZ top-ten hits with bands Double J and Twice the T and World Gone Wild. With music best described as alternative electro pop filled with catchy hooks, MANTHYNG are reminiscent of 80's disco luminaries such as King Creole and the Coconuts, Prince,Yazoo, and the Pet Shop Boys. MANTHYNG produce infectious pop songs that are carried by an Off the Wall element. With music that is entirely contagious and unforgettable and a live show not to be missed; MANTHYNG are a class act sure to win over the hearts and ears of the nation.
